Uncorroborated Confessions

In a recent Fourth Circuit case, the court overturned a conviction based on an uncorroborated confession. The court explains the need to have more than just a confession:




Essentially the government must have independent evidence that corroborates the confession. However, does that independent evidence have to be sufficient or substantial...or am I just reaching? 🤷‍♂️
